KWA President Walt Missingham has today confirmed that the 2020 World SANDA Cup will be staged in Melbourne from the 4-6 September 2020. The event will be the biggest martial arts event ever staged in Australia and the first World Championships to be conducted by KWA.
The multi million dollar Event is being fully backed by the global martial arts event giant KLF and will feature the largest global media coverage ever provided to an Australian martial arts event. Walt paid tribute to the commitment, professionalism and vision of KLF Founder & CEO Jiang Hua and KLF Pacific Asia CEO Ted Yang. We all look forward to what will be a truly amazing milestone on the evolution of martial arts media events.

Australian Team Results from World Wushu Championships – Shanghai, China
The World Wushu Championships were held recently in Shanghai, China with athletes from across Australia competing in both Sanda and Taolu events.
Taolu Head Coach Kee Lee Tan, acknowledged the strong effort put in by the athletes with the support of the team officials, especially with tough competition from over 15 countries.
Some notable Taolu results came from Corey Johnstone coming 4th in XingYi Quan, Jessica Lim/Elizabeth Lim coming 5th in Female Duilian and Jessica Lim coming 6th in Female Daoshu.
Sanda Head Coach Rob Williams said:
“For me personally there was a great team atmosphere and to have every Aussie Sanda team member finish in the top 16 in the world it was very rewarding, it was very exciting and shows just how far we have come as country in regards to Sanda.
The quality of the competition was second to none which is to be expected at a World event. All the Australian fighters should hold their heads high as they gave their best and competed with good spirit and honour I was very proud of their efforts.
Congratulation to all and well done. Be it Sanda or Taolu I believe we had a true combined Australian team with true National pride and it was a joy to be a part of it”.

Martial Arts Industry App Updated
The Martial Arts Industry App has recently gone through some updates. This latest version now has an additional Smart ID feautre under the Accedited Instructors Search function. You can now find an accredited instructor and get the details by entering either of the search keys in the textbox:
- instructor name
- town or suburb
- postcode
- type of martial art

KWA Acknowledges Tasmainian Government Support
On the 22 June a ‘National Coaching Accreditation Scheme’ Intake was conducted in Hobart.
Instructors in kung fu, wushu and tai chi from Hobart, Deloraine and Launceston participated with plans for an additional and larger intake next year already underway.
KWA and Kung Fu Wushu Tasmania wish to publically acknowledge the financial support provided by the Tasmania Sport and Recreation Department which enabled this event to occur.
